An insight into Glasgow’s future generation of engineers and architects

Glasgow Director, Isla Jackson, alongside undergraduate programme lead Alan Hooper, and Dan Dubowitz post graduate acting programme leader, spent a morning reviewing and discussing final year student projects at the Glasgow School of Art. Round table discussions with 10 final year Civil Engineering with Architecture students showcased some great briefs and building proposals for new buildings and structures in Glasgow. The sessions were informal, spending 15-20 mins with each student hearing their explanation of their construction strategies for their buildings in 5 parts: Context/Introduction, Structures, Sustainability, environment, and Principles of Building.

Isla commented on the morning’s activity: “I thoroughly enjoyed the session with the students hearing about their innovative design proposals and having the opportunity to share some of my experience from industry. I was also able to give some objective feedback and insight into some of the changes the city will see as part of the Glasgow Avenues project that will undoubtedly influence building projects in the city centre in the coming years”.
