Congratulations to Luke Ives from our Manchester Studio for being presented with an award at the recent Building Equality event by Carl Austin-Bevan, LGBT Advisor to the Mayor of Manchester.  Luke is Chair of Building Equality Manchester and got a bit of a surprise at the event when he was given an award recognising him for leading and guiding the committee and for his continued work in helping make the construction industry a wholly inclusive and diverse place to work.

Building Equality is an alliance of around 40 member companies and supporters, comprising representatives from construction consultants, engineers, developers and contractors who are passionate about working together and harnessing their collective power to drive LGBT+ inclusion in the construction industry.

We’re extremely proud to have Luke on the Civic Engineers team. Speaking about his award, Luke said,

“It’s so important that we demonstrate to people both inside, and outside our industry that the LGBT+ community is already making a real tangible contribution to the sector – and that diversity is truly celebrated.

To receive the Special Recognition Award was one of my proudest moments, not just for the recognition of my work but for the recognition from my peers. This recognition gives me the drive and inspiration to carry on facilitating and implementing change in our industry.”
