A new distillery for Eden Mill

Our Glasgow team have been appointed as Structural and Civil Engineers on the Eden Mill Distillery project which will see a new distillery and brewery created for one of Scotland’s fastest growing brands. The project involves the refurbishment of a historic, listed former paper mill in Guardbridge. Situated within the University of St Andrew’s new Eden Campus, the £4 million development will include a visitor centre, café / bar, presentation room and VIP tasting area. It will see Eden Mill double their capacity for distillery tours taking up to 50,000 tourists a year, increase its output and invest in product development.

The feature entrance to the visitor centre comprises a glazed façade and weathered steel staircase; both supported from cantilevered steelwork to minimise visible structure to the glazed elevations. Internally, the existing structure within the mill was strengthened and modified to accommodate the large distillation stills and future expansion of the distillery and a new stair/lift core added, designed in steel and concrete.

Subject to planning approval construction will commence in April 2018 with the buildings completed by autumn 2018.
