Glasgow Avenues Design Team take on Glasgow Men’s 10k for charity

The design team behind the Glasgow City Council’s Avenue’s project will take on the Glasgow Men’s 10k to raise awareness of the Avenues project and raise funds for Glasgow based charity ‘Free Wheel North.’ The 10 strong team, made up of representatives from Glasgow City Council Development & Regeneration Services, civil and structural engineers Civic Engineers, design practice Urban Movement and Nick Wright Planning will take to the Glasgow city centre streets this Sunday, 17th June, as part of the Glasgow Men’s 10k race. Training is well under way for some members of the team whilst for others the race won’t be such a walk in the park!

The Avenues is a transformative project funded by the £115m Glasgow City Region City Deal agreement. It aims to change the face of the city for the better for all those who live, work and visit. It will see key Glasgow city-centre streets redesigned to protect and prioritise space for cyclists and pedestrians, improve connectivity, introduce sustainable green infrastructure through attractive streetscapes and enhancing biodiversity and improve the way public transport is accommodated.

The team will be running in aid of Free Wheel North, a cycling development charity based in Glasgow. It works towards creating a fairer, healthier society by enabling people of all ages and abilities to cycle as part of their everyday life.
