Five Town Park, Castleford
We have worked with the client, Lateral (Castleford) Limited, since 2013 to develop economic infrastructure strategies for this 105 acre greenfield site located at junction 32 of the M62 and assist in securing outline planning permission for Retail and Leisure use.
The development includes 53,000m2 of retail accommodation located on the north western portion of the site along with circa 3,000 car parking spaces and landscaping to create a new country park.
Adjacent to the retail development is a 10,000 capacity Community Stadium, with associated coach and car parking for Castleford Tigers.
Off-site highway works will improve the junction capacity and bring vehicles directly to the west end of the site.
The overarching engineering principles adopted for development of the site included achieving a cut-fill balance utilising all materials generated by the earthworks and construction activities to create development platforms and landscape features as well as providing an integrated surface water drainage solution mitigating flood risk and providing a valuable leisure amenity for customers and the local community.
