Furness Quay, Salford Quays
We are appointed as Structural and Civil Engineers on this exciting residential project. The scheme which is currently awaiting planning approval, is proposed to add circa 450 apartments in the Greater Manchester project in Salford Quays.
The development includes the construction of 3 buildings ranging from 6 to 27 floors high all connected via a podium at level 1. Access to commercial units and the reinforced concrete podium is from the ground level. The podium slab which provides access to the buildings is a mixture of soft and hard land scaping.
After exploring various construction techniques including modular construction, a reinforced insitu concrete frame has been proposed. Stability to the buildings has been provided through lift cores in each of the structures with strategically placed blade walls providing additional lateral stability for the taller buildings.
To suit the curved shaped of the site, the super structure hugs the boundary line to maximise the use of the site. Analysis of lateral loads was required through wind modelling due to the shape of the site.
Construction is due to commence by late 2018 and completed by early 2021
