James Bruce

Director

James is a design focused chartered engineer with a general engineering foundation and a multi-discipline professional background. He is passionate about creating high-quality architecture and enjoys developing creative solutions to overcome engineering problems.

He has over ten years post-graduate experience in multi-disciplinary design of architecturally challenging buildings. His previous position was Project Engineer where he spent six years in the Manchester studio of BDP delivering projects across a wide range of sectors. Recent projects at Civic Engineers have included residential new builds on heavily contaminated and constrained sites, a grade II* listed mill building and a mixed-use building ‘extension’ to a cathedral.

James is also a visiting lecturer at the Manchester School of Architecture, undertaking design project critiques and tutorials with final year (part II) architecture students and Industrial Project tutor for University of Manchester Civil Engineering degree course.

In his spare time James can be found in the swimming pool, on his bike or out running.
