Hi! I’m Karolina I am originally from Poland. Having always dreamt of studying abroad, I moved to the UK at 19, took A-levels and went to university to study engineering. In summer 2017, I graduated from the University of Manchester with an MEng in Civil Engineering. After completing a summer placement at Civic Engineers in summer 2016, I was offered a graduate position at their Manchester studio and didn’t think twice!
I have always been passionate about physical geography and hence developed an interest in earthquake and geotechnical engineering, which were the basis of my dissertation. I also care about the environment and therefore support sustainable engineering practice in both urban and rural settings.
I love travelling and aim to tick the two remaining continents off. Upon my travels, I cannot help but stop and admire an impressive dam, retaining wall or a tunnel…
I’ve ticked off Indonesian volcanoes from my bucket list but there are still a few items remaining, including tornado hunting in the US, so let me know if you would like to organise a hunting trip!
I made a collage, featuring pictures of my family members, sheet music and precious documents. It helps me survive any lonely days away from home as it combines many things… familiar faces, memories, stories and positive emotions.
