Paul Layton

Senior Engineer

Hi I’m Paul, I’m a structural engineer with 11 years’ experience, introduced to the Construction industry through employment as a structural technician within a small engineering practice in Leeds. I quickly recognised an enthusiasm for designing building structures, and embarked on a part-time Engineering degree at Leeds Metropolitan University, graduating in 2010.

I have a strong aptitude for utilising 3D analysis and design software, complementing in a keen knowledge of structural engineering principles, and the ability to integrate these facets help me to enhance design quality and efficiency.

I have experience working in both sides of the design office and this has enabled me to develop wide ranging technical skills and competencies, with the ability to complement the theoretical and practical aspects of engineering in order to achieve a coherent design solution.

Prior to joining Civic Engineers, I worked for different multi-discipline consultancies in Manchester & Leeds working in both public and private sectors including; education, leisure, residential, and commercial.

In 2016 I became a chartered member of the Institute of Structural Engineers.

Outside of Civic I enjoy spending time with my young daughter Lowri, whilst enjoying music, sports and arts.
