Scope of the role
As an Apprentice Civil Design Engineer / Technician, you will be contributing to the delivery of a variety of building and public realm projects across the UK, including residential and commercial development and urban regeneration. You will have the opportunity to work alongside industry experts and high profile private and public-sector clients and collaborators. you will be learning about the design processes while actively engaging with the Civic Engineers multi-disciplinary teams to gain a balanced education in design. We will have a number of opportunities within the Practice across our studios in Glasgow, Leeds, London & Manchester.

Day-to-day Learning Opportunities and expectations
Technical; you can expect to learn about:
- Engineering design and analysis
- How to assess problems using qualitative and quantitative measures
- How to write high quality reports
- How to prepare, present and self-check technical data and drawings
- How to use industry standard analysis software.
- How to prepare for and participate in Internal Reviews
- How to create designs and drawings
- How to comply with the practice QMS, including self-checking
- How to provide scope for sub-consultants and subcontractors
Managerial Training:
- We will help you understand projects to deliver outputs required, deadlines, liaising with the project team members, and how to feed any matters arising back to senior team members
- How to instruct and brief others in the production of drawings and models while managing the output of information to deadline pressure
- How to work effectively to collaborate with clients and stakeholders
- You will also attend and participate in site and project team meetings
- Understand how engineers contribute to writing bids and fee proposals
- Learn how to manage stakeholder engagement

- Strong written, verbal, and report writing skills
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving and attention to detail skills

- High level of competence in MS Office products (including Excel and Word)
- Software analysis skills
- Strong team working capabilities and interpersonal communication skills
