Transport Design Planner / Engineer
We are keen to speak to Transport Design Engineers that share our hopes for helping our communities thrive. The role is based in Leeds, where you will be a key part of our welcoming team. Here you will grow and develop your skills whilst contributing to the delivery of a variety of strategic transport projects across the UK, as well as planning for residential and commercial development and urban regeneration. You will flourish alongside industry experts in collaboration with high profile private and public-sector clients.
Day-to-day task and expectations:
Individual & Technical
- Engineering design and analysis
• Assessing problems and identifying opportunities using qualitative and quantitative measures
• Contributing to high quality written reports on a range of projects
• Preparation, presentation and self-checking of technical drawings
• Use of industry standard analysis software
• Preparation and contribution to Internal Reviews
• Compliance with the duties of Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015
• Compliance with the practice IMS, including self-checking
Engaging & Collaborating
- Understanding of the project in order to deliver: required outputs, deadlines, liaising with the project team, feeding any matters arising back to senior team
• Briefing Technicians and Graduates in the production of drawings and models
• Telephone and email contact with clients and collaborators
• Attending site and project team meetings under the direction of a Senior Engineer /Associate
• Buddying junior members of the team
• Contributing to writing bids and fee proposals
Behaviour and Professional Actions
- Actively working towards Incorporated or Chartered Status
• Participation in and presentation at Civic Academy and other CPD opportunities
• Maintaining a record of your CPD and a Development Action Plan
• Demonstrating behaviour consistent with Civic Engineers’ Values and contributing to the progress of the organisation
Experience/Qualifications Desired:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or an analytical subject such as Geography, Mathematics, Economics or similar
• A post-graduate qualification in transportation, planning or a related subject would be beneficial
• Working towards Chartership with the relevant professional institution
• Strong relevant design office experience within a commercial environment
• A range of experience of Transport Planning and Transport Engineering work such as travel network design, travel plans, transport assessment, network management, data collection, modelling, business
case development or similar
Skills/Competencies:
- Developed team working capabilities
• Engaging interpersonal and communication skills, with written, verbal, numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong graphical communication capability
• High level of competence in MS Office products
• Software analysis
• Strong time management
