Civic Nightowls Sleep Out

Next Thursday some of our Manchester team will be taking part in Land Aid’s Manchester SleepOut. By braving a cold night sleeping outside our team will help raise vital funds to support Depaul Nightstop, a unique project which relies on community hosting to provide a safe, welcoming place for young homeless people in crisis.

Our team of ten, suitably named ‘The Civic Nightowls’ will head down to Depot Mayfield in Manchester’s city centre on Thursday the 10th March, sleeping bags and snacks at the ready, where they will stay until 09.00am the following morning. During the SleepOut our team will get a small insight into the conditions faced by thousands of young people across the UK every single night and will also hear more from the charities and young people that LandAid support.

At Civic Engineers, we aim to create and revitalise spaces, structures and neighbourhoods so communities can flourish and thrive. By getting involved and taking part our team hope to play their own small part in supporting their local community and the youth homelessness crisis impacting our young people in need.

Nightstop is a unique community based solution to youth homelessness, which places young homeless people in the homes of trained volunteers, ordinary people in the community who have a spare room and want to help. Nightstop hosts provide a private room, a warm meal and somewhere safe to stay for the night, whilst Nightstop helps to find a permanent solution to their homelessness
