Connecting and Collaborating at Brathay Hall

Warm September sunshine, breathtaking Lake District setting and more fun challenges in the great outdoors than even our thrill-seeking studios could imagine…last week we were finally all able to come together for two days of connecting and collaborating.

It’s been three years since our last team away day in 2019, when we were just a team of 60. Now 160 strong, last week we made we made the stunning 360 acre Brathay Hall site our temporary home. Set on the shores of Windemere in the Lake District, we saw first-hand why this gorgeous spot has earned the title of the ‘Most Beautiful Place in England’.

In the world’s newest UNESCO World Heritage Site, our Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and London studios enjoyed a jam-packed programme of team building activities, with everything from early morning wild swimming, scaling high ropes courses and rowing boats across the stunning Lake Windemere. With prizes and pride up for grabs for the winning teams!

We also shared an update on our strategy and vision for the future, working through questions and queries from the team with our live Q&A session using Slido. For many of us, it was also our first opportunity to meet some of our colleagues in-person, with the pandemic keeping many of us from meeting in recent years.

From sharing ideas, finding solutions, asking those  important questions, to lots and lots of laughter, our time at the wonderful Brathay Estate was the perfect way for us to all forge connections and learn more about the exciting future we’re all building here at Civic Engineers.

We’re already looking forward to what our next one will bring.
