Cycle to MIPIM Crosses the Finish Line
Huge congratulations to all of the riders taking part in this year’s Cycle to MIPIM. Raising an incredible £200,000 collectively, it was a tough finish for everyone involved including our very own Simon Keating. Simon, a Senior Transport Engineer in our London studio was one of 85 cyclists who over the last seven days have cycled over 1500km from London to Cannes to raise funds for Club Peloton. Helping to transform many young lives through the various projects the charity and real estate cycling community supports, the flagship Cycle to MIPIM ride arrived in Cannes yesterday as day seven saw the race reach its conclusion.
Well done to Simon and all of the riders on overcoming some of the toughest conditions in the race’s history. A final thank you also to our sponsors, Oktra, Newforma, Bluebeam and Symetri.
In our last update from the frontline, Simon has shared his recap with us as the epic challenge came to an end.
Day 7 – Greoux les Bains to Cannes
Yesterday saw us tackle some serious climbs and the day finished with the final meal together as a group. It was hard not to go to the bar but dinner was late and the last day had an even earlier start. In the excitement of the finish line and prospect of sunny Cannes I wore the Le Col team Lockton kit which was mandatory but with no layers… big mistake, it was freezing.
As we got closer to Cannes it got warmer and the Peloton was buzzing with excitement. When the sea was sighted everyone let out a big cheer and hugs and beers on the finish line were a rush with relief and celebrations. It was amazing to discover what the body can endure and but more importantly how the human connection and support made the difference in the difficult moments. The impeccable organisation and hard work by all the Club Peleton support was invaluable. Overall a great experience and proud that by participating I played my own part in helping to raise such vital funds to some very worthwhile causes.
