Associate Structural Engineer

Scope of the role

As an Associate Structural Engineer, you will oversee the delivery of a variety of building projects across the UK, across a range of sectors including residential, education and commercial development and regeneration. You will have the opportunity to work alongside industry experts and high profile private and public-sector clients and collaborators.

Experience/Qualifications Required:

  • A degree in Civil/ Structural engineering
  • Chartered with the ICE or IStructE
  • Typically, a minimum of 7 years’ relevant design office experience

Day-to-day task and expectations

Technical

  • Overseeing engineering design
  • Identifying problems and opportunities, directing others to assess and resolve problems using qualitative and quantitative measures, and supervising others to do so
  • Coordinating and reviewing the production of high quality written reports on a range of projects
  • Overseeing preparation and presentation of technical data
  • Undertaking Internal Reviews of projects across the practice
  • Self-checking and checking others’ work
  • Compliance with the duties of Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015

Managerial

  • Overseeing a number of projects: understanding overall programme. Civic Engineers’ input consultation requirements, liaising with the project team, managing client expectations, feeding any matters arising back to Directors
