Whitehall Road, Leeds
The project involved the construction a 136 bed hotel to the south of Whitehall Road in Leeds City Centre which opened in March 2017. Historically the site was previously occupied by various industrial developments and has been undeveloped since 1985 when the former buildings were demolished. There was contamination on the site associated with the former developments and due to the site’s location within Flood Zone 3 the ground floor level is elevated above the surrounding ground levels.
The development consists of a ground floor restaurant, eight stories of bedrooms plus a roof level plant room. Prior to development the existing basement was excavated, the materials processed and returned to the excavation. The building’s structure is a steel framed podium with a precast concrete superstructure consisting of twinwall construction with the floors being formed using precast concrete units and an insitu concrete topping.
The hotel was opened by Premier Inn in March 2017.
