Dai Ravenscroft

Structural Design Engineer

Dai; the shortened Welsh translation of the name ‘David’.

I graduated from the University of Leeds with a Masters in Civil & Structural Engineering before landing my first job in 2010 at Black & Veatch in Chester as a Civil Engineer in the Water Sector.

Having thoroughly enjoyed limited exposure to structures in university and early career, I sought to make the jump to pure Structural Engineering when I moved to New Zealand in 2016. Following some travel, I joined the Auckland office of Harrison Grierson as a Structural Engineer on small to medium sized projects such as 2-story timber residential housing, simple steel frames for retail and low-rise reinforced concrete apartment buildings. When I returned to UK in 2019 I chose to settle in London, and joined Civic Engineers to strengthen and grow my technical development within the field of Structural Engineering by working on larger, more complex projects.

In my spare time I enjoy sailing as a main passion, followed closely by cycle touring and camping. Other mid-week hobbies include singing and swing dancing.

An object of sentiment would be my sailing gloves. They are weathered and worn from over 10,000 miles of coastal, offshore and ocean passages. Although they are far beyond providing any useful protection, I simply cannot bring myself to get rid of them.
