My background has predominantly been within consultancy recruitment over a twenty-year period. During this time I progressed to Regional Manager within a global construction recruitment consultancy and Operations Manager level within a UK multi-disciplinary agency.
Following this I have worked independently and as a Recruitment Manager within In-house recruitment teams for major contractors on projects up to £500m+.
I believe strongly in continued professional development. My initial degree was within Psychology with a subsequent I.T post-grad. Following this, during my career, I have also gained an MBA and an MSc in Human Resources. The evolution to in-house recruitment has been a rewarding experience for me; allowing the application of my knowledge and understanding to help ensure recruitment is in line with the purpose and values of a company. I am passionate about the positive impact that HR can have on the working lives of people and the success of companies. People driven by purpose and enabled by their working environment can make a big difference to their lives and their community.
Outside of work I have a busy family life with three young kids. Finding personal time outside of their interests can be tough. Fortunately, I have established some good habits over the years and enjoy a daily routine of practicing martial arts. Below is a sword that I use in my practice. The sword below is the final of three weapons you learn to use, following the spear and the broad sword. It is supposed to take over a decade to master this weapon and I have not quite got there yet…but maybe one day.
