Prior to starting at civic I had been working for the past 5-6 years as a Structural technician working on a variety of different projects including large new build health schemes, high rise apartments (one building I helped draw I lived in for 2 years) I have also worked on smaller projects such as small primary education buildings and small extensions to existing hospital buildings. Throughout this time I was also studying part time to achieve my level 05 HND. Thought these past 5-6 years I have found a passion for creating clear construction drawings taking a huge amount of pride in ensuring that all drawings I issue are up to my own personal standard.
I also find the challenge of trying to figure out the best way of showing complicated parts of buildings to be one of the parts of my job having the freedom to think outside of the box and try something new.
Outside of work I love to spend my time playing rugby for the team I grew up playing rugby for, in my opinion nothing beats the feeling of hearing that whistle blow on a Saturday morning other than maybe a beer in the club house after. My partner always asks me why I love playing rugby so much because I seem to pick up a new injury every week, I never have an answer to that question, but you can be sure I will have my boots on and ready the weekend after.
