Two Cities and a River: Strangeways Strategic Regeneration Framework panel at MIPIM

Next week at MIPIM, our CEO Stephen O’Malley will take part in The Manchester Stand’s ‘Two Cities and a River’ session.

Taking place at the Manchester Stand at 3pm on Tuesday 11th March, the panel will explore the key elements of the just published SRF and how the success and experience of Slussen, Stockholm can be applied to Strangeways.

Participants will include:

  • Moderator: Stephen O’Malley – Chief Executive, Civic
  • Cllr Gavin White – Executive Member for Housing and Development, Manchester City Council
  • Cllr Jack Youd – Deputy City Mayor, Salford City Council
  • Linda Thiel – Partner, White Arkitekter
  • Kimberley Grieveson – Principal, Avison Young

The 320 acre framework area encompasses land in both Manchester and Salford. While exceptionally rich in heritage and opportunity, the area’s geography requires a long term, strategic collaborative approach from the two cities and future development partners.

At the session, the key elements and considerations of the framework will be introduced. we review the success and experience of new Slussen, Stockholm with key architect Linda Thiel, White Arkitekter and how lessons learned there can apply to Strangeways.

If you are not attending MIPIM, each of the Manchester at MIPIM 2025 Stand Sessions will be livestreamed during the event on the Manchester Invest Partnership LinkedIn page.
