James Travers
Associate Director
I have 34 years experience within the construction sector in various roles but started life off as a trainee civils draughtsman, drawing civil and structural projects by hand before progressing onto CAD systems. I have worked within Civil/Structural Consultancies, National housebuilders and owned my own house building business. I specialise in civils/residential site design work but have a particular interest in Sustainable Drainage Systems and have undertaken several SuDS design courses and completed a Master course in urban Water & Environmental Management. Civic Engineers approach to place and the integration of nature based solutions is what drew me to the company.
Whilst with Taylor Wimpey I managed to jointly win the SEPA Vision in Business Environment award for our raingarden project as a trial for minimising downstream flooding and improving biodiversity within residential development sites. We also prepared some Scottish Government backed literature on the back of it which have been promoted by Homes for Scotland.
Outside of work I am progressing my next self build property which will be taking up much of my time over the next two years though I will squeeze in some games of badminton and golf.
As a huge Sci Fi fan since seeing star wars in 1977 I watch every available film a and tv series and luckily enough managed to visit the Star Trek experience in Las Vegas and purchased Captain Picards communicator badge. I have also found myself locked into the Scientology centre in Holywood looking for a replacement Sci Fi book that I gave away by L.Ron Hubbard. I haven’t been converted!
