Day 2 on the Long Road to MIPIM
It looked like an early start on the other side of the channel this morning for London Director, Gareth Atkinson as he entered Day 2 of the Club Peloton, Cycle to MIPIM in aid of Coram. Yesterday, the team on the Folkestone route covered over 100km and then headed into the Eurotunnel to make the crossing to Calais.
By lunchtime today Gareth had covered over 130km from Calais in about 5 hours and had completed all the stages in dry, sunny but windy conditions. His plan for the rest of the day was to miss out the next 60km stage and rest, so that he was then ready as his team leads the Peloton for Stage 5 and Stage 6, the two final stages of today. Today the cycle will end of Reims and when they arrive they will have covered about 240km.
He says he’s “definitely enjoying the experience’ and a highlight was being serenaded by a French Primary School who sang songs from The Beatles for them.
Tomorrow, Reims to Dijon lies ahead.
