Civic in the New London Quarterly spotlight

“Top of their game.” We’re excited to be featured on the front cover of NLA’s New London Quarterly, a publication at the heart of London’s construction and development community. The article highlights our approach, achievements, and ambitions, focusing on how Civic is contributing to building a sustainable and connected future across London and beyond.

David Taylor writes how our vision and systems-thinking approach drives us to design resilient, sustainable urban environments that work harmoniously with people and nature. From our early days, when we’ve championed sustainability through projects like TfL’s Green Infrastructure Strategy, through to more recent projects such as contributing to the Dublin Taskforce, Taylor shares how we’ve demonstrated our commitment to creating greener, more resilient communities across the UK and Ireland.

In London, he writes, our projects address the urgent challenge of the climate crisis with pioneering work on materials reuse, such as the steel reuse strategy for The Elephant on Oxford Street, and neighbourhood enhancements like Lambeth’s rain gardens. These efforts demonstrate how engineering and creativity can meet climate goals while improving community wellbeing.

At the heart of Civic lies our culture and our ‘Conscience’ – a people-first ethos rooted in collaboration, inclusivity, and sustainability, notes Taylor. We strive to bring our values to life in every project, ensuring they resonate with the communities we serve.

“When it comes to sustainability and all things green, there are some firms who talk the talk, and others who walk the walk.” – David Taylor
