Double shortlisting at Greater Manchester Future Ambition awards

Insider has announced the shortlist for its inaugural Greater Manchester Future Ambition Award, and two projects we have worked on have been shortlisted in recognition of the impact they stand to unlock for the region.

Decided by a panel of property experts and Insider, the shortlisted projects have been meticulously selected for their potential to transform Greater Manchester’s landscape. Each scheme has the potential to have a catalytic effect on the local area and its economy. The two projects shortlisted include:

  • Upper Brook Street masterplan – the £450m development of life science workspace, student accommodation and public realm in Ardwick. The project will see a total of 700,000 sq ft of life science accommodation and 1,800 purpose-built student unit, and deliver 5,800 jobs and a total £138m GVA contribution to the local economy through construction alone. We’re part of the team, providing structural, civil and transport engineering services on the project.
  • Trafford Wharfside masterplan – with a focus on unlocking the potential of the site by creating high-quality homes, commercial spaces, public realm and an attractive waterfront, the project will better connect Trafford Wharfside to the city centre, MediaCity and cultural institutions. We’re providing civil, structural and transport engineering services on the proposals, which represent an important step forward for the regeneration of the area.

Commenting on the shortlist, Insider’s editorial director Miri Thomas, said: “Future Ambition is about recognising those projects that are not finished yet but whose impact will be felt far beyond the city region. It’s about those projects that by coming forward will unlock millions of pounds of further investment and unleash the area’s full potential.”

The winner will be announced on 8th May in Manchester, as first published in Insider here [Image credit: Upper Brook Street Consortium via Insider].
