Festival of Place: Social Impact

Starting on Monday and running every afternoon between 1pm and 3pm for five days, the Festival of Place: Social Impact will explore how to design and develop places that make a positive social impact, putting citizens first.

With inspiring speakers exploring all the topics we love, everything from 15 minute cities and designing disorder, through to sustainable housing and spatial justice, we are proud to support the Festival.

As part of the agenda, on the Thursday as part of the afternoon exploring healthier town centres and spatial justice, our Co-founding Director Stephen O’Malley will be live in Altrincham. He’ll be taking a wander through the town that was once known for having some of the highest vacant shops but turned itself around to be crowned Great British High Street in 2019. A combination of factors led to the turnaround in the town’s fortunes, these included the revamp of the town’s market and the redesign of the streetscape to focus more on people, rather than cars. Stephen will be talking about the changes that have taken place and the work that was carried out by the design team.
