Future Build 2019

Members of the Civic Engineers team shared their expertise and opinions at the Future Build 2019 which has taken place at Excel London this week.

Future Build seeks to tackle the biggest challenges impacting on the built environment, championing true innovation and sustainability. The exhibition attracted many of our clients and collaborators and was of benefit to both our structural and civil engineers as it explored urban infrastructure challenges, the latest developments in offsite construction and the latest technologies and innovations across the industry.

Associate Director, Leah Stuart took part in the discussion panel that explored how streets should be redesigned for the people. She shared her thoughts on how streets need to work much harder to allow communities to thrive. Rather than merely being conduits for movement, she demonstrated how streets can add to the social, physical, economic and environmental health of a place.

Meanwhile, Infrastructure Consultant from our London Studio, Simon Keating shared his experiences working on the White Hart Lane project as part of the session looking at ‘Transforming the Capital with the Healthy Streets Approach.’ Our work on White Hart Lane involves improving the public realm, prioritising pedestrians, increasing the desirability for cyclists and allowing for social spaces and activities.
