Joining the conversation at Footprint+

In two weeks time, FOOTPRINT+, will gather representatives from every sector of the UK property market to discuss, discover and learn state of the art methods to achieve Net Zero in real estate. Taking place on the seafront in Brighton, our Co-founding Directors Julian Broster and Stephen O’Malley, as well as Directors Gareth Atkinson and Leah Stuart and Head of Communications, Katrina Davis will all be attending and joining the conversations about how, as an industry we can accelerate action against climate change.

Over the course of the 3 days from Tuesday, 7th June to Thursday, 9th June, the team will be taking part in and chairing panel discussions with many of our key collaborators focusing on key issues such as people focused climate resilient design, building in wood and how we create thriving zero carbon communities.

Sessions we are taking part in are;

3pm – Tuesday, 7th June – Stage 1

Leeds Our Spaces

In association with Landscape Institute, our Leeds Director, Leah Stuart will be joining a panel alongside Jane Cash, Head of Projects, Programmes, Asset Management & Regeneration at Leeds City Council and Pete Swift, Managing Director, Planit-IE. The session will be chaired by Jane Findlay, President, Landscape Institute and will explore how Leeds City Council have knitted together public landscape amenity spaces in a ground-breaking project called ‘Our Spaces.’ It will talk about how the use of external space can support Leeds ambition to become zero carbon by 2030, improve air quality, provide safe walking and cycling space and increase biodiversity.

3.15pm – Tuesday, 7th June – Stage 2

Glasgow Avenues – Putting People at the heart of the city

In association with Planit-IE, our Co-founding Director, Stephen O’Malley will be talking alongside Chris Martin from Urban Movement and Paola Pasino from Glasgow City Council about the transformational Glasgow Avenues project that we have been working on for some time. The project will see key streets in the city centre transformed putting people at its heart and bringing economic, social and environmental benefits.

4pm – Tuesday, 7th June – Stage 1

Leeds Climate Innovation District – Creating thriving low-carbon communities

Director, Leah Stuart will be taking to the stage again, this time to look at our work on Citu’s Climate Innovation District and how the development is already coming to life as a sustainable, thriving place. Leah will be speaking with Jonathan Wilson, Development Director for Citu and Linda Thiel from White Arkitekter. They will be discussing how the timber houses have been designed to Passivhaus principles, the landscape is entirely permeable and therefore able to withstand a 1 in 200 flood event and how walking and cycling is prioritised.

11am – Thursday, 9th June – Stage 1

Building in Wood

Our Co-founding Director, Julian Broster will be chairing a panel which will look at why despite timber being the prime material choice, the use of timber has been seriously undermined and what can be done to address this. Speakers on the panel are;

Andrew Waugh, Waugh Thistleton, Kelly Harrison from Whitby Wood, Alexa Laird from Landsec and Steven Hearn from Mid Group
