London Rooftop Reconnection Drinks

We couldn’t have asked for better weather for our first in person London event in over 18 months! With blue skies, temperatures of 30 degrees and incredible views across London, it was fantastic to see over 100 people join us for our reconnection drinks in London on Wednesday night. Held in partnership with John Robertson Architects, the venue was one of our very own projects, Cannon Green in the City of London, a true retrofirst project which we structurally engineered. As part of the evening, our London Director Gareth Atkinson spoke about our work on the building and also our wider work, in particular relating to climate resilience, and the importance of not just looking at buildings in isolation but looking at how buildings, public spaces and neighbourhoods work together and how we must make all aspects more sustainable. Founder of JRA, John Robertson, talked about how they designed the building and then we heard from Hattie Hartman, Sustainability Editor at Architect’s Journal. She shared her thoughts on sustainability and details of some of the impressive schemes and initiatives, which included the Glasgow Avenues project we are leading on that she has been researching as part of the NLA’s Resilient London work. All in all, an enjoyable evening, with the weather holding out until 9pm when the first drops of rain began to fall.
