MIPIM Round Up
As MIPIM draws to a close, here’s a look at what the Civic Engineers have been up to on Day 2 and Day 3.
Day 2 was very much a day of meetings and events with key collaborators and clients, as well as attending some of the interesting panel discussions on the various stands. In particular, the ‘Keeping our town centres alive’ panel was popular and explored the success of town centres such as Altrincham, a project we worked on alongside Planit-IE. The evening saw Glasgow Director, Isla Jackson attend the Scottish Public Sector dinner, an opportunity to catch up with many of our Scottish contacts.
Day 3 saw Isla make her MIPIM debut and take to the stand in the Glasgow Pavilion to discuss the important issue of inclusion, within companies and within developments and regeneration. Alongside Barclays, Morgan Sindall, Scottish Government and Clyde Gateway, Isla outlined the importance of inclusion for Civic Engineers as a company and emphasized how being more inclusive and diverse allows us to be more creative. She then discussed the inclusion issues surrounding the Glasgow Avenues project we are working on and how we are striving to ensure it is ‘inclusive by design.’
The afternoon was then jam packed with Isla’s first MIPIM Ladies attendance where she found it encouraging to hear that many other ladies were new to MIPIM this year, proving once again that the industry and MIPIM is getting more inclusive year on year. Meanwhile Julian, Stephen and Gareth attended the ever popular Place North West events, Scotland receptions, visited the Leeds and London stand and there was even a pool party thrown in!
