NLA Sounding Board and Expert Panel appointments across team Civic
Shaping the future of our industry is central to our work, enabling us to create meaningful impact. That’s why we’re excited to announce that members of team Civic have been appointed to key positions on the New London Architecture (NLA) Sounding Board and Expert Panels for 2025.
Stephen O’Malley, CEO of Civic, has been appointed to the NLA Sounding Board, a highly influential group of senior industry leaders who shape NLA’s strategic direction in London’s built environment. This prestigious appointment is testament to Stephen’s leadership and his visionary approach to creating climate resilient, people-first places.
Gareth Atkinson, Director leading Civic Engineers London studio, has been appointed for the fourth year running and will chair the Net Zero Panel. Gareth is passionate about circular economy and in particular accelerating building and material reuse. He is one of the founding members of The Engineers Reuse Collective. This Panel will focus on understanding the priorities for London to achieve Net Zero, and the role that the built environment has to play in meeting this target.
In addition, Leah Stuart, Director at Civic Engineers, has been reappointed to the NLA Transport and Infrastructure Expert Panel. Leah’s expertise in designing sustainable infrastructure to unlock growth, and her dedication to creating active, inclusive and accessible places, makes her a key addition to this panel.
These appointments reflect team Civic’s significant contributions to the industry and highlights our role as system thinkers – bringing together complementary expertise to tackle the complex urban challenges we face.
Stephen O’Malley, CEO of Civic says:
“I am honoured to join the NLA Sounding Board, which plays a vital role in shaping the future of London’s built environment. As the city continues to grow, we must tackle the urgent need for sustainable housing, resilient infrastructure, and a net zero-carbon future. These challenges demand a collaborative and system thinking approach so we can ensure that London remains a thriving, inclusive, and globally competitive city. I look forward to contributing to these critical discussions.”
