Cannon Green, London
Cannon Green is an office development built in the 1960s in the heart of the City of London. The buildings underwent a complete overhaul to upgrade the space to modern standards. We were appointed by Ocubis as Structural Engineers on the project.
The development comprises two towers of 11 and 8 storeys with a triple basement below the entire site and now provides up to 90,000 sq ft of lettable Grade A offices together with a 5,000 sq ft Drake and Morgan bar/restaurant with a large terrace, and a 20,000 sq ft gym and a bike club.
A key part of the proposals was the creation of a new double height entrance added at ground floor. This wraparound extension comprised architectural steelwork and glass and contains a feature staircase in slender fair-faced in-situ concrete. Finite element analysis has been used to model the complex geometry and optimise the structural components.
Other alterations included adding two storeys of office space and roof terraces to each tower and various internal alterations to reorganise the circulation and services systems, where new demands have been created by the introduction of the new uses.
