Remembering Iain McIntyre

Very sadly, our colleague and friend Iain McIntyre recently passed away after a long illness. As a practice we would like to pay tribute to Iain and remember his life and the contribution he made to our profession.

Iain was a director of Civic Engineers in our Glasgow studio from 2017 to 2021. He was a selfless, intelligent, witty man who loved life. He was also an experienced and brilliant engineer who enjoyed collaborating and was motivated by the positive impact we could have on the environment. Iain joined us in 2017 when we established our Glasgow studio and became a member of the Civic Engineers board. Prior to Civic Engineers, he had a very successful structural engineering career with Crouch Hogg Waterman, Halcrow and Structa. Iain, alongside Isla Jackson helped to lead the Glasgow team up until 2021 when he retired. He was a trusted mentor and with his wicked sense of humour was much loved amongst the team.

Amongst peers in the built environment industry, Iain was well known, popular, and highly respected across the city of Glasgow. He was also a keen musician, playing bass guitar in his band. He was a loving family man and leaves behind his wife Jeanne and daughters Laura and Mhairi, along with many, many friends. Iain will be hugely missed and in his memory, his colleague and friend Cher Wilkie recently walked the West Highland Way to raise funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity. If you would like to donate and support her fundraising in his memory, please visit  https://www.justgiving.com/page/whw-beatson-iain-mcintyre
