I graduated from Newcastle University in 2016 where I secured a 1st class MEng (Hons) degree in Civil & Structural Engineering. Since then, I have accumulated over 8 years’ post-graduate experience working for several structural engineering consultancies, the majority of this in London. I originally joined Civic Engineers’ London team in January 2022, before making the move back to my native Yorkshire at the end of 2023 where I now work as part of our North team.

I have experience working across a range of sectors, having had the opportunity to work on large scale residential led mixed-use developments, high-end offices, a research centre on the banks of the River Thames and numerous refurbishment projects including offices, shopping centres and exhibition centres.

I am keenly interested in historic buildings and their architecture, having worked on or adjacent to several listed buildings in the past. I enjoy the process of establishing and understanding the means by which these structures work and ensuring design decisions sympathise with the sensitive nature of these buildings. I am also passionate about sustainability and promoting how we as engineers can help achieve Net-Zero carbon targets through thoughtful design and championing a ‘RetroFirst’ approach. I also sit on our Timber Working Group where I help to promote knowledge in and the use of timber in structures.

Outside of work, I love travelling and visiting new places both overseas and in the UK. I enjoy playing golf and have recently taken up a membership at a local club, but also enjoy playing elsewhere when the opportunity arises (Vilamoura in Portugal being my personal favourite destination!). I am big sports fan in general and you can find me cheering on Leeds United and Wakefield Trinity (rugby league) on a weekend.

The majority of my ‘spare time’ is devoted to renovating a 1950s semi I recently moved into where I’m enjoying learning new DIY skills along the way.
