Chris Murphy

Civil Design Engineer

In 2018 I graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a BEng in Civil & Environmental Engineering, before moving on to start my first engineering role as an Assistant Traffic Engineer with a Local Authority. A year later I moved on to a different Local Authority to become a Traffic Engineer. Throughout this time, I worked on a variety of different design projects including Road Safety Improvements, Active Travel Route Upgrades, Minor Local Road Improvement Works and liaising with Local Councillors and MP’s.

I made the move to Civic in September 2023 after wanting to challenge myself and discover new disciplines in Civil Engineering, with a keen interest in residential development infrastructure and public realm projects. I’m enjoying the challenge of developing my knowledge, particularly in drainage design, to help me become more rounded Engineer. Civic’s ethos of being environmentally minded while designing schemes was another aspect that attracted me to join.

In my spare time I enjoy bouldering, rock climbing and hill walking, and have recently begun my “Munro Bagging” journey with my four-legged companion. The enjoyment of being in nature with friends or by myself is a feeling like no other.
