Mike Borzoni
Design Engineer
Hi I’m Mike and I am currently working as a Structural Design Engineer at Civic Engineers. I am originally from the south west and studied Civil and Environmental engineering in Bristol for my Undergraduate Degree. After a year in industry, I returned to university to study Innovative Structural Materials at the University of Bath. These courses ignited my passion for sustainable design, as well as homebrew cider, both of which have stuck with me.
During and after university, I had worked at a consultancy in Bristol, known as Crouch Waterfall, who specialize in the rail industry and temporary works. Here I worked on various projects including bridge design, research tasks and scheming a building in Vietnam. I then moved to London after a spout of lockdown to work at Meinhardt. Whilst here, I focused on high-rise concrete & steel structures and residential buildings such as Art ‘Otel in Hoxton and the refurbishment of Lots Road residential, located at the old Battersea Power Station site. I moved to Civic in April 2022 and have since improved my knowledge in parametric design and sustainable practices. Areas that I independently studied as a postgraduate.
Outside of work I run clubnights around London in order to force people to listen to me DJ. This is something I picked up whilst in university in Bristol – much like the tinnitus that came with it. And yes, I do have guestlist tickets if you fancy listening to Drum and Bass on a Thursday night.
