A staggering 80% of today’s buildings will still be in use in 2050, which just goes to show the importance of prioritising retrofit if we are to reach our net zero carbon ambitions.

But what does retrofit really entail? At UKREiiF, we’re hosting an expert panel in partnership with Assura plc, to debate the challenges and opportunities of retrofit projects, and explore how they can contribute to reducing carbon emissions and tackling climate change.

Taking place Tuesday 21^st May at 6pm at Revolution Leeds as part of the UKREiiF fringe programme, our panel includes:

• Paul Warwick, director of sustainability and projects at Assura plc
• Louisa Bowles, head of sustainability at Hawkins\Brown
• Julian Broster, our managing director and co-founder at Civic Engineers
• Ruth Oates, director at BuroFour

From their perspectives as architects, engineers and healthcare providers, our experts will share the role retrofit and reuse has to play in the sustainability agenda and the preservation of heritage buildings and places. They will explore how retrofit can revitalise neighbourhoods and cities, and the impact it can have on the health, wellbeing and happiness of communities.

Retrofit and reuse is at the heart of everything we do as we respond to the global climate crisis and strive to reach net zero. Some of our retrofit projects include The Elephant on Oxford Street, London; Tileyard North in Wakefield, Eden Mill Distillery and Brewery in St Andrews, and Park Hill in Sheffield.
