UKREiiF 2024 countdown begins!

The countdown to the UK’s Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) is on!

Taking place between 21st to 23rd May in Leeds, UKREiiF will see more than 12,000 investors, developers and local authorities attend with a focus on unlocking sustainable, inclusive and transformational investment.

We’re once again session partners to UKREiiF, and we look forward to catching up with collaborators, clients and new faces at the conference. And as partners to Invest Manchester and Opportunity London, we’ll be supporting the promotional activity for Greater Manchester and London respectively, taking part in events and contributing our insights to discussions.

As a glimpse of our action-packed week, we’re proud to be hosting exciting events, including:

Tuesday 21st May, 6pm at Revolution – ‘The Reality of Retrofits’ panel

80% of the buildings with us today will still be in use in 2050. This statistic emphasises the importance of prioritising retrofit if we are to reach our country’s net zero carbon ambitions. But what does that really entail? Join us at Revolution, Call Lane, for food, drinks and a discussion with retrofit experts, including our COO and co-founder Julian Broster, Ruth Oates, director at Buro Four, Paul Warwick, director of sustainability and projects at Assura plc, and Louisa Bowles, sustainability lead at Hawkins\Brown, as they explore the challenges, benefits and the realities of retrofits. Reserve your spot here.

Wednesday 22nd May, 12.15pm at Industry in Focus pavilion – Inclusive impact: less talk, more real change

Regenerative design is non-negotiable for our survival and demands serious creative thinking. From recycle, reduce, reuse to restore, renew and replenish, we must engage with whole-systems thinking and real collaboration to create places where communities can thrive. In partnership with Maccreanor Lavington, our expert panel will delve into how we can design a system that serves all. Find out more about the programme and sign up here.

With lots more in the diary, we’ll also be spending an evening filled with paella and sangria, and catching up with our collaborators and supporters close to our Leeds studio and at the fringe events. Our team from across our studios is attending UKREiiF and would love to catch up so please get in touch:

Our directors Isla Jackson (isla@civicengineers.com) and Paul Morris (paul@civicengineers.com) will also be attending many events on the UKREiiF fringe programme, so please reach out if you’d like to arrange a meet.

Cycling to UKREiiF with Club Peloton

Our directors Gareth Atkinson and James Bruce will be taking part in Club Peloton’s ‘Cycle to UKREiiF’ challenge. Starting 18th May, the 400km cycle will raise funds for Club Peloton’s charity projects that are transforming young lives, such as Coram Adoption, Cyclists Fighting Cancer and Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust.

This year, the ride will set off from two locations, with Gareth setting off from Oxford and James starting in Edinburgh, with both routes joining each other outside Leeds three days later. We’re longstanding supporters of Club Peloton’s fundraising efforts, and our director Andrew Ruck completed the Cycle to MIPIM event earlier this year.

Supporting Regeneration Brainery

We’re proud to be supporting Regeneration Brainery at UKREiiF. Regeneration Brainery is an award-winning aspirational academy for brilliant young minds. Supported by the industry, they are on a mission to boost diversity, provide work experience, tackle the skills shortage and give diverse young people an opportunity to kickstart their career. Some of our younger team will be buddys for the Regeneration Brainery’s cohort at UKREiiF, so say hello if you see us!
