9^th – 15^th March saw British Science Week take place across the country. The week celebrates science, technology, engineering and maths and schools throughout the country are encouraged to put on STEM activities and events for all ages.

As part of the week, Senior Civil Engineer, Grace Foster, from our Manchester studio visited Crossacres Primary School in Wythenshawe to talk to the children about engineering and hopefully inspire some to become engineers of the future.

Over the course of the morning, Grace talked to approximately 90 children across year 5 and year 2. She talked about what being an engineer is, what it’s like to be an engineer and chatted to them about specific projects she works on, she even took them through the engineering behind the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Some of the students had even been set a challenge to determine how best to transport tomatoes across a river, a problem which Grace spent some time helping them to solve! All the students were incredibly engaged and keen to learn about what life as an engineer involves.
