Civic Engineers have been appointed as civil and structural engineers for the 1^st phase of the £1.1bn Mayfield development, next to Piccadilly Station.

The project, by the Mayfield Partnership, made up of U+I (plc), Transport for Greater Manchester, Manchester City Council and LCR, will see the creation of a 6.5 acre park, 90,000 sq ft of office space, a circa 550 space multi storey car park and a redesigned Baring Street. A planning application for this has recently been submitted.

They will be joining the project team that includes architects, Studio Egret West and Bennetts, and Project Managers & cost consultants, Faithful & Gould.  In addition to the buildings, Civic will be working with Studio Egret West on the re-design of Baring Street and how the access and movement across Fairfield Street to Piccadilly Station can be improved.  Civic Engineers is also advising on use of the existing Depot building and old platform infrastructure for planned events over the next few years. 

The appointment on Mayfield follows work on other significant city centre regeneration projects as civil, structural and transport engineers, such as the regeneration of the eastern side of the Gascoigne Estate in Barking, London.
