Burlington House progress

Burlington House is an 11 storey residential development at Piccadilly Basin, Manchester. Sitting on a very tight site directly next to the Rochdale Canal and close to our Manchester studio, the project for Belgravia Living Group with GMI construction is progressing well. The building floor plan effectively rotates at two separate levels, resulting in large cantilevered concrete shear walls overhanging the building below and supporting the post tensions floors.

The main concrete stability core has reached level 10, with the concrete frame contractor looking to complete works to roof level at the beginning of May. Post-tensioned floor slabs have been completed at levels 1-4, with works currently ongoing installing slab reinforcement and PT strands at level 5. Pouring will begin in the next few weeks. Upper floor slabs are currently progressing at the rate of around one storey every 3 weeks. Work is expected to slow slightly as the site team approach the first of the large cantilevers shear walls above level 6. This will require a complex temporary works solution to be incorporated.
