Eden Mill Distillery and Visitor Centre

We are designing Scotland’s first carbon neutral distillery located within the University of St. Andrews’ Eden Campus; power and heat for the stills will be supplied by the University’s biomass plant and solar panels on the distillery’s roof. The project involves the refurbishment of a former paper mill to house the new visitor centre and distillery immediately adjacent to the head of the Eden Estuary.

Following our desk top engineering site assessment, a site survey and structural survey of the existing building were undertaken. With the proximity to the Estuary a review of flood maps was critical and assessing the existing site levels. Given the ongoing redevelopment of the overall Eden Campus, site access and service diversions are being reviewed along with the programme. We are designing a new internal structure, within the existing shell unit, an external plant area and service yard.
