Scotland’s Housing Expo, Inverness
We were appointed alongside AREA Architects by the Highland Housing Alliance for the masterplanning, public realm and infrastructure design for the Highland Housing Fair.
54 houses are to be constructed on five hectares at Balvonie Braes, south of Inverness, each designed by a different architect for individual developers. The Streets throughout the development have been designed as shared surfaces to encourage their use as amenity spaces for residents and visitors and seek to provide an attractive streetscape which will give a strong setting for the new homes.
Sustainable drainage was a key consideration on this project and all surface water from the streets and public spaces drains into shallow street swales before discharging into a burn running adjacent to the site. The aim of the Fair is to showcase exemplary Scottish housing and public realm design.
