St Paul’s Primary School and Foxlea Early Learning and Childcare Centre

A new build primary school with a separate adult education/nursery centre to accommodate Foxlea Pre-Five’s Centre. All the formal learning spaces link directly to a covered outdoor learning space, which incorporates an all-weather sports pitch and ‘green’ playground, with woodlands and allotments. There are also secure bike racks to encourage pupils and staff to ride to class. Internal areas include classrooms, a gym hall, dance studio, modern kitchens, dining space, and cloakrooms.

The single storey building for Renfrewshire Council, consists of a steel frame and a RC slab forming the ground level. Built off the main school is an adult education/ nursery centre which is constructed similarly. Natural light was important throughout the formal and informal learning spaces, this was incorporated through several clear storey windows and roof lights.

As the new facility was to be constructed within the grounds of the existing primary school, temporary drainage diversions were designed and installed to enable the existing school and all-weather pitch to operate during the construction period.
