Stephen O’Malley to share nature-based solutions insights at NCE Flood Resilience Conference

Our CEO and co-founder Stephen O’Malley is set to speak at NCE Flood Resilience Conference 2024, to share insights on transformative approaches to urban surface water infrastructure.

Taking place on the 24th April at America Square Conference Centre in London, with virtual sessions online, the conference will delve into global strategies, innovation and best practice for sustainable flood management, with panel discussions from industry leaders.

Stephen will join a panel exploring how we can enhance flood resilience in urban areas, exploring innovative strategies for managing urban development to build back better, mitigate flooding risks and increase urban resilience.

The panel will delve into the importance of holistic systems for urban surface water management, including nature-based solutions and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).

The pioneering use of nature-based solutions to create a more resilient built environment and have a positive impact on people’s lives, is a founding principle of our practice. We adopt this approach widely across our projects, such as at the Gascoigne Estate Phase 2 in London; Climate Innovation District in Leeds and Glasgow Avenues.

Our expertise informed Transport for London’s guidance on SuDS and in Cobh, County Cork, we have created Ireland’s first nature-based solutions pilot scheme in close collaboration with the local community (pictured).

Joining Stephen for the panel discussion will be Chris Digmen, technical director at Stantec; Bridget Rosewell, chair at Flood Re; Stuart Crisp, UK manager at ADS, and Jacqueline Diaz Nieto, head of water at The Environmental Protection Group.
