Story behind the Climate Innovation District: join fbe Leeds’ upcoming tour

Join us for a tour of Climate Innovation District in Leeds on 14th August, to take in the story behind the UK’s largest sustainable urban living project.

Hosted by fbe (forum for the built environment) Leeds, the event will kick off with a visit to the CITU factory followed by a tour of the ground-breaking scheme, which is widely regarded as a ‘greenprint’ for creating sustainable communities in low carbon developments.

We’ve helped to shape Climate Innovation District from the very start, as civil and structural engineers on the project team.

As part of the tour, Leah Stuart, our director at Civic Engineers, will take us through the innovative design and construction techniques used to mitigate the impacts of climate change, and create a walkable, healthy and family-friendly environment.

She’ll reveal how the spaces between the homes are innovatively designed to respond to Leeds’ history of flooding by incorporating sustainable urban drainage systems, as an example of infrastructure that responds to both climate and community needs.

The tour will meet at Piglove by the River at 11.50am on Wednesday 14th August, followed by lunch, networking and presentations until 2pm.

We’re proud supporters of the event by fbe Leeds, as a fantastic example of how inspirational places and spaces can have a positive impact on the environment and the people that live there. [Image credit Citu & White Arkitekter]
