Supporting the Manchester Garden for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019

We’re proud to have been involved in providing structural engineering advice for the Manchester Garden by Exterior Architecture for this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Impressively, the garden was awarded Silver in the judging.

The Manchester Garden was designed for Marketing Manchester by landscape architects, Exterior Architecture. It offers a fresh perspective on post-industrial cities, highlighting the reinvention of Greater Manchester whilst raising important questions about how cities manage urban green infrastructure in the face of climate change, rising temperatures and weather extremes.

The structure incorporates urban, parkland, remediation and SuDS. Spanning across it is a stunning sculpture by Manchester artist Liam Hopkins that showcases the importance of materials to the region. There is also a space to gather together, a water feature that tells the story of the region’s major waterways and how they helped the city thrive and ten trees that represent Greater Manchester’s ten boroughs.
