Taking on the Cycle to MIPIM 2020

Whilst the Christmas and New Year period might have been a chance to relax and maybe do a little less, this certainly wasn’t the case for our London Director, Rob Westcott, who is well into his training schedule for the gruelling Cycle to MIPIM 2020.

Over 6 days from Thursday, 5th March, Rob, will be cycling alongside 200 other UK construction and property professionals on the Club Peloton Charity ride. Covering around 1500km, this challenging ride, which starts in London and finishes in Cannes for MIPIM, will see them in the saddle for up to 12 hours a day, experiencing all kinds of weathers and temperatures ranging from below zero to the high teens. This well-established ride raises funds for children’s charity Coram, the UK’s oldest children’s charity, as well as Cyclist’s Fighting Cancer, Tom’s Trust and Multiple System Atrophy Trust. It is hoped that this year’s peloton will smash last year’s fundraising total of over £725k.

To support Rob and to help us hit his fundraising target of £3k, our London Studio will be hosting their popular quiz and there is also the opportunity for our clients, collaborators and suppliers to grab their place on Rob’s cycling jersey. Sponsorship packages range from £250 upwards, to find out more about those contact Katrina@civicengineers.com

Speaking about the cycle Rob said, “With just 7 weeks to go, my training is well underway and I’m looking forward to the challenge, though I’m not going to deny I’m quite nervous. The cycle is not only a great networking opportunity, it’s also a chance to raise funds for some amazing charities who make a real difference to people’s lives. Helpfully, my fellow London Director, Gareth did the cycle last year so I have been able to hear about his experience and his top tips for how to make the most of it, train beforehand and survive the tough days during the cycle. The practice rides are going well and it’s good to meet those who I am going to be cycling alongside for the 6 days.”
