Park Hill Phase 3 gains planning permission

Planning has been approved for Phase 3 of the iconic Urban Splash, Park Hill development in Sheffield and we’re pleased to be continuing our work as structural and civil engineers for the next stage.

The phase 3 proposals by student accommodation developer Alumno Developments, designed by architects Whittam Cox, include 70 units providing bespoke student accommodation for 365 students, as well as commercial space for shops, café or a gym. The plans are designed around groups of four and eight bedrooms with shared living space in a unique three-storey townhouse format. This phase of regeneration of the Grade II* listed estate sees the student accommodation added to the existing mix of commercial and residential developments that has saw Park Hill identified by The Times as one of the coolest places to live in the UK.

As with previous phases, the approach will be to conserve the historic character of the building and our knowledge of engineering repair and adaptation of post war listed buildings and from working on Phase 1 and 2 of the development will be crucial. For this phase in particular, our experience of concrete repair works will be key.

It is expected the accommodation will be ready for occupation for the start of the 2020/21 academic year.
